| Blood and Mint Chocolates is now contracted with Freya's Bower! |
[Oct. 3rd, 2008|06:06 pm] |
I am pleased to announce that Blood and Mint Chocolates, a standalone short story within the Dark Moon series, has just been offered a contract with Freya’s Bower.
The story is set after Blood of the Dark Moon and just before its upcoming sequel, Shadows of the Dark Moon.
Here’s a quick blurb:
Merideth, a vampire and librarian, spends most of her nights researching and book collecting for Clan Gladius within the Order of the Dragon and the Rose. Much to her surprise, the head of Clan Gladius unexpectedly presents her with a luxurious gift: a trip to stay at Hotel Paradisio at Crystal Island!</p>
The heat is on at the island resort under moonlit skies and palm trees. The tropical heat quickly transforms into a scorching hot time that will be seared into her memory forever when she runs into her long time crush, Kalia. Merideth is presented with a gift from a goddess which allows her to experience in reality what she only could before in dreams. But can their passion survive the intrigue and potential dangers that await them, or will it only last as long as her vacation?
A hot lesbian romance and occult intrigue sets the stage for the next book. The world of the Order of the Dragon and the Rose is about to change, and this story is a small sliver of what’s to come.

| Oct and Nov events have been posted, plus updates for the Dark Moon series! |
[Sep. 30th, 2008|07:45 am] |
Check it out: http://www.adriannebrennan.com/events.html
November’s will be the one to be under high amounts of change no doubt, but do tune in to October! I have one booksigning taking place on Oct 26 in Cambridge, MA. Stop on by and get the last of the out of print copies of Blood of the Dark Moon while supplies last and before its re-release! You never know…could be worth lots of money someday.
Also, Oct 1 is busy, busy, busy for me. I’ll be not on one or two but THREE loop chats throughout the day! Do stop on by any of them and find out the latest in the Dark Moon series.
I also want to give a heads-up: just about finishing editing Blood and Mint Chocolates, and Shadows of the Dark Moon is also underway. Blood and Mint Chocolates takes place in between the two books and has a few important plot details amidst lots of really sexy vampire girl action! Shadows of the Dark Moon is where the battle between the Order of the Dragon and the Rose and the Order of the Golden Cross really heats up…along with Amanda and Jesse’s relationship.
In the meantime, Blood of the Dark Moon is now in the editing stage with my editor. Once that finishes up, we’ll have some idea of its release date.
So, stay tuned, watch this space, you get the idea.

| More about the new contract and upcoming works.... |
[Apr. 9th, 2008|03:45 pm] |
I've been crossposting quite a bit from my blog on my main site, but wanted to post more about the good news in a separate post.
Yes, I'm thrilled...yes, I'm excited...yes, the potential is there for the book to be out in print. Once I have my other two WIPs finished, I'll be submitting those with FB as well, so rest assured you'll hear more about the first AND second books sometime in the future--not to mention the novella I'm working on in the same universe.
There's a lot going on and I've been a seriously busy gal. I'm glad to receive some good news today--it makes me feel like all of the hair pulling isn't for nothing, lol. |

| WIPs! |
[Feb. 11th, 2008|01:13 pm] |
Oh the little plot bunnies. They are EVIL. They cause me to not pay attention to my primary job/work while my Muse runs around in my head, chaotically redecorating.
I have the following writing projects underway:
- A f/f vampire piece set in the Dark Moon series. May expand to become novella.
- Modern witch and fae piece. This will be a whole other series yet unnamed, although the first book has a title.
- Shadows of the Dark Moon, which is the sequel to my book which is already out.
Multitasking helps prevent my Muse from burning out. But wow... the bunnies. Multiplying. Bouncing. In my head. Boing-boing-boing.... |

| Update on short story, and paganism and occult in fiction |
[Jan. 31st, 2008|08:12 am] |
Happily, the edits to my short story for the GLB anthology have gone off to the main editor. Yay! I should be hearing official word at some point on the whens/ifs of my story going out, and it's looking pretty good. I really want to treat everyone to lesbian vampire erotica, and the Babalon ref I suspect may be a draw as well.
I haven't seen an awful lot of references to Thelema in fiction with the exception of writers like Piers Anthony and Alan Moore. There's one other I recall, but it's all any association being bad, evil, et cetera. Sometimes I wonder if people just don't bother doing research before using a wide brush. When I talked with my reviewer, one comment he made about my book was that it was a great book written by someone who obviously was either genuinely involved in paganism and the Mysteries or by someone who did a LOT of research--and most people who attempt writing such a book wind up going Hollywood. One thing I had tried to do in my book was place real elements within a fantasy setting. People write about Christians, doctors, lawyers, and all sorts of REAL things within fantasy novel. Why should the realms of pagan religions, witchcraft, and Western Mystery trads in general be any different? In any event, I didn't want to write the next "Charmed" for magicians, and I'm glad to hear that those who have read my book thought I succeeded in avoiding just that.
In the meantime, I has chai. This is good. |

Nothing delights me more than inspiring my friends with my writing.
I hear that two of them are sharing some of that inspiration right now. That so rocks.
Oh and yes, I finished my short story. Whee! Just gotta do some more editing before I submit it. |

| w00t! |
[Jan. 24th, 2008|06:06 pm] |
Not only did my business cards arrive earlier, they are seriously cooler than the ones I made on the computer.
:D Yayness!
Now I can pass them out tonight at the goth meetup.
Oh and uh... I'm exhausted. When this is all over, I want to curl up into a little ball in the corner, get stupid, and drink lots of wine. Not necessarily in that order. I want/need/crave a serious break from promo for a bit. For serious. I'm working on lesbian vampire pr0n for the Masquerade: Collier House at AA, but it's totally not enough. I need to get drunk off my ass, stare at the ceiling and be useless for a few hours. |
